What is the inspiration for TRUE COLOURS?
It's all about whanau and community.
We want to dedicate the day to suicide prevention awareness and want to provide an atmosphere that has people feel good and safe.
We want to open the conversations up in a way that is not confronting or difficult.
There will be specialists on site, however the day is about solidarity and fun so we will focus on that.
Can kids participate?
ABSOLUTELY!
How is the color throw done?
We will do the fun run part. We will then do prize-givings for winners and then the colour throw will happen.
We will gather into a cordoned off area, monitored by safety marshalls, we will be given colour packs, the music will be turned up and then we will throw.
Is the colour throw safe?
The health and safety of our participants and staff is most important. Mad Ave specialises in family focused events and activities and we will set up everything needed to help people on the day.
Will the colour ruin clothes or running shoes?
The color can wash out. The faster you wash it the better. We ask that you wear clothes that you don't mind getting colorful.
What are the best ways to wash off after the run?
It is best to pat the powder off, not wash with water. It is fun to see people cruising for a while fully coloured too!
What about other property like my car or property?
Good question: please bring other gear, like clothing and towels to cover your seats.
Does the colour powder affect vision or breathing?
The color powder used at True Colours is all certified non-toxic and free of any heavy metals. Our bright colors are a combination of cornstarch, baking soda, and safe food dyes. As with anything, you want to take care of your eyes and we ask participants to keep aim to the lower body. Wearing glasses and bandana's is a great idea.
Are cameras and phones safe to have in the color zones?
We recommend that no devices are used in the colour zone as it may cause damage. Mad Ave due to this caution takes no responsibility to the damage of your gear if you choose to take it into the zone.
What if I am pregnant?
It’s totally up to what you and your doctor decide. The powder is all certified non-toxic. We recommend wearing sunglasses or goggles, and a bandana over your mouth and nose in the color zones just for extra protection.
What happens if there is bad weather?
A little rain won’t stop True Colours! It even makes the color brighter! If there are major weather issues check the True Colours website, and stay tuned for facebook updates.
In the event that severe weather does cause cancelation we will postpone to another date.
